The Homeless Assistance Program (HAP) helps to assure homelessness can be avoided through prevention services assisting individuals to maintain affordable housing, individuals who are homeless can find shelter and care, and homeless individuals are assisted in moving toward self-sufficiency.
The Homeless Assistance Program makes available a continuum of services to persons who are at risk of becoming homeless who can demonstrate that with the prevention and intervention services provided by HAP they would be able to meet their basic need in the future. Homeless Assistance serves the residents of Bedford and Huntingdon Counties.
HAP Case Management
Case Management services are available to assist eligible clients in the completion of a formal intake interview, assessing service needs and determining eligibility.
Rental Assistance is a payment for rent, security deposit, or utilities made on behalf of individuals to prevent and/or end homelessness by maintaining individuals in their own residences. Rental Assistance may include assistance to prevent homelessness or near homelessness by intervening where an eviction is imminent.
Utility payments may be made on behalf of individuals not eligible for payment from the Department of Public Welfare's Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
